Youth Justice Training: Boston
Don’t just learn about justice — do justice!
This transformative three-week social justice training for high school youth offers interactive
social justice education and real-world internships. In a program grounded in Unitarian
Universalist values and practices, participants will create community across differences and
leave with a deeper understanding of themselves and social justice. Youth who attended high school during the 2012-2013 school year are invited to apply.

Dates

Cost
$3,300 per person; cost reductions are available by application. UUCSJ is dedicated to providing accessible and affordable opportunities through a tiered funding structure. Groups of three or more participants from the same congregation are eligible for a five percent discount.
Accommodations and Supervision
Participants will stay in Andover Newton Theological School’s spacious single dormitories with shared bathrooms, access to common rooms, coin-operated laundry facilities, and a communal kitchen. Located in Newton Centre, on the MBTA Green Line, youth will have easy access to their program and internships. Fans and basic furnishings will be provided. NYJT is an active, urban program. Teens will be supervised by adult staff overnight and during the day program. They will be provided thorough orientation to the city and will be supported by staff to take public transportation in groups to their internship sites.
Partners
The City School has been building youth leaders, across difference, for justice since 1987. They develop and strengthen the power of youth to work toward building a just society through creative education and critical thinking, leadership development, action and service, and promoting understanding and relationships across difference. Their Summer Leadership Program which NYJT youth participate in, gathers youth leaders across differences of race, class, sexual orientation, religious identity and life experience to learn together to transform our world.
Program Leaders
Elizabeth Nguyen is a Midwesterner, a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, and a recently fellowshipped minister. She gets excited about fresh produce, the Wisconsin Badgers, liberation and communities organizing. In addition to coordinating NYJT she serves as social justice educator at Boston Mobilization.
