Activate! A Pre-General Assembly Event

Don’t just learn about justice — do justice!

Registration has closed for Activate!

This one-day event for high school youth, offered immediately prior to General Assembly, gives a unique experience of interactive social justice education.

Our day will begin by exploring systems of oppression and social change through a variety of interactive activities. We will then put our justice values into action by discussing workers’ rights and the call to raise the minimum wage. The program will conclude by developing action plans to articulate and engage justice work during General Assembly and back at home. If you would like more information about the itinerary, email info@uucsj.org.

If you’re passionate about justice, if you want to make a change in your hometown, if you want to see what the UU College of Social Justice is all about we hope you will join us.

Youth who attended high school (grades 9–12) during the 2013–2014 school year are invited to register.

If you are interested in making a larger commitment to workers’ rights and the campaign to raise the minimum wage, UUSC will be offering fellowships. Simply fill out the UUSC Fellowship section on the application page.

Activate! And General Assembly

Registration for Activate! is separate from registration for General Assembly. Please be sure to register for GA before registering for Activate! If you do not plan to attend GA, please contact us.

For youth under age 18, we request that GA adult sponsors be present in Providence during Activate!. We will conclude in time for GA attendees to meet their sponsors at Youth Caucus Orientation on Wednesday afternoon. If this presents a problem for you, please contact us.

For more information about attending for GA as a youth, visit the UUA Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries’ resources on GA Youth Caucus.
