Activate @ GA

New Orleans 2017

Don’t just learn about justice — do justice!
Join us in New Orleans on June 21st, 2017.

Activate @ GA is one-day event for high school aged youth, offered immediately prior to General Assembly, beginning on Weds. June 21st from 10 am – 3 pm, followed by two Activate workshops in the Youth Caucus space during GA. Click here to meet the Activate @ GA team — we are excited to see you in New Orleans!

It will give participants a unique experience of interactive social justice education, while getting to connect with other youth attending GA. This year, Activate @ GA will build on the theme of “Resist & Rejoice” by highlighting local justice movements in New Orleans with a focus on racial justice activism. We will explore ways you can take action in your own community, and will engage in hands-on projects to promote social justice at GA and in collaboration with community partners in New Orleans. We will also sing together, get creative, share stories, foster friendships, and explore the spiritual practices that can sustain us on our social justice journeys in these challenging times.

If you’re passionate about justice, if you want to connect with other young people who are, too, if you want to see what the UU College of Social Justice is all about  we hope you will join us!

Registration Information

Activate @ GA is open to all General Assembly attendees who attended high school (grades 9–12) or a homeschool equivalent during the 2016–2017 school year. Please complete GA registration prior to registering for Activate GA.

Registrations for Activate @ GA are due by Sunday, May 21st.
We request a $25 registration fee per participant to cover costs associated with the pre-GA program, including lunch on Weds. June 21st. Financial aid is available if this fee will be a barrier to your participation.

For youth under age 18, all GA Youth Caucus rules apply; we require that GA adult sponsors be present in New Orleans during the program. If your sponsor will not yet have arrived at the time of this program, please contact UUCSJ.

Our Activate @ GA programming on Weds. June 21st will conclude in time for GA attendees to meet their sponsors at Youth Caucus Orientation on Wednesday afternoon. If this will present a problem for you, please contact us.

For more information about attending for GA as a youth, visit the UUA Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries’ resources on GA Youth Caucus.
