Know BEFORE You Apply
SimpleGifts provides housing in a homestay with a local Unitarian family.
Public transportation is best for getting around the city. The selected interns are responsible for travel to and from London, England, and any associated costs (e.g. passport and visa fees).
Interns are eligible for a stipend of no more than $1,500 from UUCSJ to assist with food, local public transit, and incidentals, depending on a variety of factors. Applicants are encouraged to seek other sources of funding, including grants from colleges and foundations, congregational support, and Faithify, or other crowd sourcing fundraisers.
SimpleGifts operates in a very multi-cultural area, with a large percentage of Muslim service users and volunteers. Interns would be expected to be respectful of the Muslim culture (although this does not have an overly significant impact on how they deliver programmes).
